Practical checklist
Is your catalog ready to be found and ordered by AI agents?
Score each statement honestly. A “no” is not a failure — it is the fastest way to identify what blocks agentic commerce today.
1. Product identity & discoverability
- Every sellable variant has a stable SKU and, where applicable, GTIN/EAN.
- Product titles and descriptions state what the product is without relying on images.
- Key attributes, materials, dimensions, certifications and compatibility are structured fields.
- Product relationships such as variants, accessories and replacements are explicit.
2. Commercial truth
- Stock can be queried in real time per sellable item and location.
- Prices, taxes, buyer rules and delivery options have one authoritative source.
- An agent can determine whether an offer is valid before committing.
- Unavailable or stale products are removed from agent-facing results quickly.
3. Safe order acceptance
- Your system can validate quantity, price, inventory and delivery context atomically.
- Agent intent and payment authorization can be verified without browser-behaviour signals.
- You remain merchant of record and can enforce channel and customer rules.
- Every accepted, rejected or changed order has an audit trail.
4. Fulfilment & feedback
- Accepted orders enter a real pick, pack and shipping workflow automatically.
- Carrier, tracking and exception updates can be returned to the originating agent.
- Inventory reservations and cancellations stay synchronized across channels.
- Delivery confirmation closes the order loop for both merchant and buyer.
5. Governance & DPP readiness
- Product facts have an owner, validation rules and change history.
- Supplier, origin, material and evidence documents link to the product record.
- Access permissions determine which facts each channel or party can see.
- The same governed record can feed commerce and Digital Product Passport interfaces.
